Valenti just replayed a call from the midday show from a kid that was molested. Makes you want to tear apart everyone involved.
And here come the Feds.....

The U.S. Department of Education will launch an investigation into whether Penn State University failed to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the Clery Act) in regard to allegations of sex offenses on campus by a former school official. Former Penn State Defensive Coach Jerry Sandusky has been charged with sexually abusing several young boys over several years, including incidents on campus.
Under the Clery Act, colleges and universities are required to disclose the number of criminal offenses on campus that are reported each year. In addition, in certain cases, the institution must issue a timely warning if a reported crime represents a threat to the campus community. The U.S. Department of Education is responsible for Clery Act compliance.
Education Secretary Arne Duncan said, "If these allegations of sexual abuse are true then this is a horrible tragedy for those young boys. If it turns out that some people at the school knew of the abuse and did nothing or covered it up, that makes it even worse. Schools and school officials have a legal and moral responsibility to protect children and young people from violence and abuse."
The investigation of Clery Act violations will be conducted by the Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA). DOE officials formally notified Penn State of the investigation in a letter today. As the FSA investigation proceeds, the Office for Civil Rights will also assess whether further investigations or enforcement actions are warranted.

Jerry Sandusky's pre-coaching job. Not a joke. This is an actual photo of Sandusky from 1970s.

At least the PR firm recognized this was a tragedy, or focused grouped it and decided it needed to be said. With his job, reputation and legacy teetering on the brink, Penn State coach Joe Paterno has hired his own Crisis PR specialist to help navigate the child sex abuse scandal centered around ex-defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. The 84-year old Paterno has brought in communications expert Dan McGinn of TMG Strategies, according to the O'Dwyer's PR newsletter. The Arlington, Va.-based firm represents "Fortune 500 companies, leading educational institutions, law firms and non-profits," according to the company's web site.
The embattled coach said in a statement issued by McGinn today he'll retire after the final three games of this season after 46 years as head coach -- and 61 years of coaching at the university.
Said Paterno: "This is a tragedy. It is one of the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more."
His son Scott Paterno tweeted Wednesday all future media requests will be handled through McGinn's firm. McGinn did not return a phone call from USA TODAY Wednesday seeking comment.

Sandusky is a criminal and deserves his punishment. That being said, he was probably molested as a child himself. If you look at the studies/research/etc nearly all pedophiles were themselves molested. It's a tragic cycle. I hope the attention this case is getting will help people realize that just getting mad and punishing the perp will not make this problem go away. Something more needs to be done. I wish I knew what that was.
So, let me get this straight. The current PA governor was formerly the state's attorney general and the one that started the proceedings. He's also directly involved in the PSU board of trustees. He's known for 2 1/2 years about all this -- and this is the best they've done so far?!?

It took the board, about 4 days to really issue a statement - and then they still wait days longer to start their committee. Meanwhile, he had to be fully aware that Sandusky had full access to the football facilities at Penn State. No one was tipped off to get Sandusky out of there until Saturday. No one acted to have the university board prepared for this.
Now obviously Mr. Corbett did the right thing to start the investigation... but just as in the case of nearly everyone else in this matter, I guess that's where his responsibility ended? I sincerely hope something was done with limiting Sandusky's access to kids in the past 2 1/2 years, but it appears that the culture of silence goes way beyond Paterno, Curley, and Spanier.
