It’s just not going to happen. I’m not going to let my team do that."

    Big Ten, welcome Urban Meyer.

The newly-appointed Ohio State coach made the first impact move of his tenure in Columbus on Monday, when he lured former Michigan State commit Se’Von Pittman from the Spartans, according to Bill Greene of Scout.com.

Greene tweeted the news of Pittman’s commitment switch.

Pittman, who hails from Canton McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio, is Scout.com’s No. 9 ranked defensive end.

He committed to MSU over the summer but now is Ohio State’s 18th verbal commitment of the 2012 class and the second since Meyer took the helm.

Top Michigan State recruit switches to Ohio State
    Matt Charboneau/ The Detroit News

East Lansing— Michigan State, still reeling from its loss in the Big Ten championship game, suffered another defeat on the recruiting trail on Monday night.

Several recruiting sites reported defensive end Se'von Pittman of Canton (Ohio) McKinley has committed to Ohio State.

Pittman (6-foot-4, 260) originally committed to Michigan State in June and was one of the stars of the Spartans' 2012 class. Instead, new Ohio State coach Urban Meyer is taking advantage of the Buckeyes' current staff coaching for the Gator Bowl and is focusing his time on recruiting. He also convinced defensive tackle Tommy Schutt, a Penn State commitment, to switch Monday.

Pittman had been rumored for some time to be wavering on his commitment and took an official visit to Ohio State over the weekend.

"My reasoning was just to follow my heart," Pittman told Rivals.com. "I wanted to be a Buckeye so I went with that feeling."

Pittman is a four-star prospect and is rated the No. 8 defensive end prospect and No. 81 overall in the nation according to Rivals. He said the arrival of Meyer in Columbus was the main reason he made the switch.

"Honestly, I probably would have (stuck with Michigan State)," he told Rivals. "Coach Dantonio is a great coach and he's a great person, period. For me to leave a coach like that, (Meyer) had to be a great coach and a great person too and everything he told me was what I wanted to hear to be comfortable enough to leave."

"I called (Dantonio) and let him know and just flat-out told him. He's a great man and a great coach and I would have loved to have played for him but at the same time, I had to follow my heart."

Pittman's McKinley teammate Jermaine Edmondson also has committed to Michigan State, but the three-star defensive back said last week he has no intention of changing his mind.

Michigan State now has 14 commitments for 2012.

Can't wait to hear how this will be spun by spartanmag.com &/or Valenti. This is not good at all & nothing but bad things come from this.
