Default Gary Harris, SG, Hamilton Southeastern (IN)

One of the elite talents in the class, Harris has the ability to be special. He has good size and very long arms which allows him to be a great on the ball defender, and also he is an excellent athlete. Offensively he can really knock down the deep jumper, and is improving in the mid-range. He needs to tighten up his handle and get stronger, but not doubt an elite talent in the class.

Good news on the Harris front:

    per twittersphere:

    ulCARDS_sports Louisville Cardinals:
Gary Harris no longer a target for the Louisville staff.
Harris is Big 10 bound, IU MSU likely

Louisville was considered the front runner for Harris by many. IU has already exceeded their scholarship limit. MSU looks to be in the driver's seat. Izzo visited Harris on Thursday.

Greg Rosenstein, former men’s basketball beat writer for The Indiana Daily Student and currently of USA Today, had a chance to catch up with all six prospects in a set of interviews that will appear on Inside the Hall.

Rosenstein’s talk with Harris, who is averaging 12.5 points through two games at the camp, continues the series:

    What about Indiana interests you?

It’s close to home and I’m close with some of the players that committed there. I’d know who I will play with if I went down there. Coach Crean has done a great job recruiting me.

Will the scholarship numbers affect your decision?

The coaches said it’s not a problem, so I just got to take their word and realize that there is still going to be room for me if I go there.

Where are you overall in the recruiting process?

I don’t have any set dates on when I want to make my decision. I’m going to take some visits when all this summer stuff is not going on. Then I’ll just take time and figure out what I’m going to do.

What schools have been pursuing you the hardest recently?

Indiana, Michigan State, Louisville, Purdue and Michigan have been recruiting me the hardest.

Have any new schools been recruiting you as of late?

It’s basically the same schools. I e-mailed with Coach Orlando Antigua from Kentucky and they want me to come up for a visit in August.

    but then:
At the NBAPA camp on Thursday, Harris made it clear he’s making advancements in the process.

“Indiana, Michigan State, Louisville, Notre Dame and Purdue are coming at me the hardest,” Harris said. “That’s my top five.”

Harris, a 6-foot-4 guard from Hamilton Southeastern (Ind.), is one of the more intriguing prospects in the class of 2012. He is physical and long, which makes him tough on the defensive end and difficult to stop on the offensively. Harris is deadly with his mid-range game, and is working on getting to the basket.

The five schools on his list will have to wait to see him make his next move.

“After the summer is over, or after this June and July, my parents and I are going to sit down and talk about it,” Harris said. “I’m looking for a school where I can get playing time.”

Not sure it will go that high. I think #5 would be a good bet.
