Shiiiiiittt I'm STILL holding out for Demar Dorsey!

I wonder if Hoke had brought in Dorsey and not Rich Rod if he would have ended up qualifying

not really. Maybe coming out of high school, but you won't find a JUCO at Michigan unless he went to JUCO because of a lack of offers (not smarts).

And then you've got to have a kid that purposely takes classes at that JuCo that he knows will transfer to U of M. IE Austin Panter, who went JuCo because he played 8-man football in HS.

Wasn't there a story that Javon Ringer actually wanted to go to OSU, but couldn't qualify, so he ended up getting in at MSU?

Pretty sure that is true of Michigan, not sure of Ohio State. OSU wanted to greyshirt him.... they were expecting a commitment from Maurice Wells and Beanie Wells was already known as a superstar for the class of 2006 -- the class after Ringer's.

Either way, it points out there are differences among the conference schools academic eligibility.

Not sure who does those rankings, but the 2011 US NEWS rankings, which are the most reputable by all accounts, have UM at #29 among national (not international) universities, and MSU at #79. He wants to major in engineering, where UM is #9 and MSU is #52. Yeah, there is a large difference, but don't act like picking MSU would be like picking community college.

UM holds its players to the same standard as MSU. The only school the conf to impose real standards on athletes is NU. Check out Carty's story about UM's general studies and kinesiology (sp?) basically being diploma mills for athletes.
