Mario Ojemudia is an intriguing athlete from Michigan which is a state that Syracuse is taking full advantage of with Tyrone Wheatley on the staff this year. The Farmington Hills native currently plays outside linebacker, but apparently the Orange see a ton of potential in him as a defensive end if he lined up in the Carrier Dome.

It's is not typical for an athlete with offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Syracuse and Illinois to mention the best players on his team without mentioning himself in some context.

This Clark Kent-esque persona is extended to reporters, coaches, and all the other people he meets in his day-to-day life, but when he straps on his helmet and the whistle goes off, Ojemudia transforms into Doomsday -- remember him, he killed Superman in 1992? -- bent on giving quarterbacks nightmares on the field.

Ojemudia made 127 tackles on the season from his defensive end spot, including 12 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. Ojemudia was a driving force behind Harrison winning their 13th championship in 2010. He was also one of only three underclassmen to be named to the Detroit Free Press Dream Team.

The belief that he could play at the college level coincided with winning a championship in November.

"Probably when last year, after I stepped my game up, we won the championship," Ojemudia said, "I noticed that I was on a level that would translate to the college game."

Recently receiving offers from Illinois and Syracuse, in addition to his early offers from Michigan and Michigan State, there are two schools Ojemudia would like to hear from.

"Penn State and Ohio State," Ojemudia reported, "those two schools have [been] great from the beginning of my memory. I am also being recruited to Iowa, Nebraska, Purdue, Cincinnati, and Alabama, and I would like to learn more about those schools as well."
With four BCS offers to consider, Ojemudia has a clear favorite.

"Michigan State is higher on my list than the rest," Ojemudia confessed.

Would Ojemudia ever consider bucking the tradition of FHH players like Drew Stanton, Mill Coleman, and Mark Dell by going to U-M instead of MSU?

Well, let's just say the Wolverines have their work cut out for them.

"I haven't really talked to Michigan, and it would be hard to choose them over Michigan State," Ojemudia said.

understatement...Salem is going to be a recruiting monster, he is handling N of 8 mile which obviously include FHH...Gill, Salem (Cody/Henry Ford), and Samuel are sharing the PSL...

Anything to worry about with Ojemudia from an MSU standpoint? 247 sports article makes it sound like PSU might be his leader.

Penn State sent their assistant coach, I think a RB coach actually, who is friends with Herrington, to meet Ojemudia in person. From what I heard that made an impression on him. His brother goes to Western and he has a younger brother that will eventually go to Harrison (7th or 8th grader) so maybe he'll decide that playing instate is the best option for him. I've heard that he really liked Ohio State, but that was before all the sheetstorm was brewing there. I'd be surprised if he went there now.

    Thanks Joe.

from reading the mainboard it sounds like PSU has told Noah Spence they are only taking one DE and Brent Wilkerson commited as a TE. It makes sensse they would go after Ojemudia as a LB who could play DE under these conditions.

Anyone know if Salem also recruits Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. I see little benefit having him recruit these areas when collectivelly they produce 10 players a year MSU would want. Especially if we keep losing our in state targets.

I would have never thought MSU would struggle like this recruiting after the season it had last year.

    2 words...Michigan State.

They will never be national recruiters. No one outside of Michigan and Ohio pays attention to them. As a program, there is no consistency.
And to be honest, they will always be #2 in the state of Michigan.

I dont expect them to be national recruiters. I see little benefit in recruiting the western Big Ten states and that is midwestern. MI, OH, PA, IL, IN and maybe go into areas like GA and MD/DC.

State won't have a "great" class until they can be consistent. Sure they won 11 games this year. Follow it up with a 9+ win season next year. Don't lay another stinker like they did the last time they won 9 games.
