    It's Joe's mindset that's past it's prime....

He can't get it thru his thick head that this team needs to rid itself of all marginal NBA veteran talent, keep Monroe, and have a couple 18-23 win seasons, so they'll have a shot at infusing high-end talent in the Draft.

They are NOT gonna get anywhere drafting #7 thru #12 - with NO top-five pick. And Detroit's not a Free Agent destiny....so...they'll need to get their own Dereon Williams, Derrick Rose, John Wall, etc.

I'm not putting Presti on Joe's level until he at least does something more than get an 8 seed and win 2 home playoff games. I have PLENTY of beef with Joe's moves lately but I still won't say Presti is better right now.

He got KD to re-sign, now on to Russ this year. More importantly though, after they are signed to big money deals can he get others to fit (their play, and capwise) into what they are trying to do?

Pretty sure the Clips are a little younger FWIW
Of course he can't be on Joe's level because he hasn't put together a title team yet. But at the same time, that franchise is still, what, 3-4 years old? He's done a nice job, but he hasn't done anything "great" yet.

besides LA, Boston, Miami, and San Antonio, you can make the case for them being next on the list.

All I'm saying. Yet to some he's great.

considering there are 6 teams ahead of them record wise too.

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

Nope, right now ORL and CHI in the East and DAL in the west. Quietly, they have pretty much the same record as ATL. Another "nice" team.

I think he means top 5 as far as consistency. They don't have a track record of deep playoff runs yet. I wouldn't consider them top 5, either.

Maybe in talent, but not in the "best teams" sense.

How can they be consistent? They are one and half seasons removed from a 23 win season.

That's what I meant. I was trying to shoot down that "top 5" argument. They need to put in more work before they can reach that status is what I was getting at.

Gotcha. I like what they've done so far but they are kinda playing with house money because they had a couple rookies come in and play really well. Those low salaries make a GM's (especially one that gets lucky in the draft) job a lot easier.

Having a top draft pick and a superstar fall into your lap wit a no brainer pick makes a lot of GMs look better than they really are.
