College Sports Fandom in the State of Michigan

A recent poll of the state's college sports fans revealed that the fan bases of Michigan and Michigan State are almost identical in size.
Almost.
Michigan won by a percentage point, 34-33, with a margin of error reported as +/- 4 percent.
The poll, commissioned and conducted via Lansing-based companies, said 34 percent of the college sports fans in the state identified themselves as fans of the Wolverines, and 33 percent call themselves Spartans fans.
Of the 600 college sports fans and Michigan residents polled between Jan. 24-27 by Marketing Resource Group, 21 percent said they were fans of neither team and 9 percent said both schools.
"When it comes to major college sports, Michigan is a state divided," said Matt Resch, president of Resch Strategies, a public relations and communications company that commissioned the survey and announced the results.
"But that's what makes rivalries great."
Of those polled, 81 percent said they have never been enrolled at either school, and among the non-alums group 35 percent said they were Michigan fans and 33 percent Michigan State fans.
BTW, I'm shocked that the "walmart" factor for both schools was that close (Within the margin of error) considering the amount of *****ing one fan base does about that...
