Anybody have new suggestions for Lawn Fertilizing Companies?

Going to try and use a service this year. The past 2 years, I've tried to use Scott's myself, but I couldn't seem to get it right.

If they can make my lawn look good, its worth the $200 for the year.

    All suggestions welcome!

I highly recommend Master's Green. Our grass is always the greenest on the street, and within 6 months, our backyard went from mostly dirt and weeds with a bit of grass to a nice green grass carpet with few weeds. Seriously, I thought we were going to have to re-sod the back, after having nothing done to it for years, but within one summer, Master's Green had it looking like new.

FWIW, there are a few reasons I've experienced as to why I haven't been able to get my lawn to grow very well. Once I learned these tricks, its been cake.
1a) Use something to kill weeds & insects (grubs are a problem in my neighborhood - nuke them hos every spring)
    1) Use a lot of grass seed. And by a lot, I mean way more than you think you need.
    2) Use peat moss/straw to help keep moisture from evaporating.
    3) Use a starter fertilizer
    4) Water water water
    5) Plant seed in only the spring or fall. Summer is too hot.

Yeah, the people I am going to go through set up a plan that they recommend you do based on your soil and surroundings...

How soon after fertilizing can you seed, or vice-versa?

the starter fertilizer & seed get thrown down at the same time. then the peat moss or straw over it. I watered mine every morning for about 20 minutes or so. Then again in the evening for 20 minutes or so. After about a week or so I could see little seedlings.

I've actually had really good luck with scotts for both seed & fertilizer. Get good quality seed.

eta if your lawn is patchy, or it looks like patches of grass are dead, you might have grubs. They tunnel around underground and feed on the roots of the grass which is why the grass looks dead. When I first moved into my house I saw them when I was digging holes for plants in the yard. I throw down this **** called Sevin at least 2 weeks before planting grass seed. oh, and having a nice lawn is horrible for the environment if you go w/ the typical store bought stuff. Guilty.
