I love hole in the wall places. There is an awesome Mexican place in Utica, North of Hall Rd.,(south of Auburn) West of Mound, called Aztecas. It's in a shopping plaze, and TINY, but awesome Mexican.
I've always wanted to try Bacco in Southfield, I've only heard good things.
As far as the Melting Pot, I honestly wasn't that impressed. The cheese fondue and the chocolate dessert fondue was the best part, but the actual main course wasn't anything special to me. But again, that's just me.
I can't say enough about Clawson Steakhouse though (14 mile). We just tried it recently and it was very very good, it is definitely up on the list. I'd recommend it to anybody.
*edited to add Filippas on Hall Rd. and Mound that is great as well.

Just don't burn yourself, yo.
From 2002:
I see where Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Jaret Holmes and punter Chris Hanson were burned when a fondue pot overturned in a kitchen. A fondue pot? Just because you were born in the '70s doesn't mean you have to cook like it. Now you know why real football players cringe when they see kickers enter a game. Thank goodness there were no lava lamps on the counter.
Los Tres Amigos is a little family owned chain in the area...Howell, Ypsi, AA (I think)...anyway, great good, very fast and priced great. Heading there tomorrow for $2 margaritas and dinner...

Nothing beat Antonios for Italian...located in Dbn, Canton, Dbn. Hts., and Farm. Hills
Now I want to kick myself the time we were heading to Bacco and ended up at Fishbones.
I'll never go to that Fishbones again, it was terrible.
I also have heard the Roma Cafe at Eastern Market has amazing Italian. Never have had it though.
