Default Terry Foster Getting REAMED FOR RUMOR Fair or Unfair

I done told terry to leave the blogspot alone because folks can come in anomnynously and say what they want. Then folks will think it's true. Heres the deal folks Terry's journalistic integrity was called into play because he reported a rumor of the whole Rasheed deal and Then he went back and said the rumor was false after checking sources. First off I think those anomynous folks were Dish Rag folks and Wdfn fans or personell trying to undermine Terry. The writing and talking don;t lie TErry kept saying rumor to cover his A** just in case people were going to try and call him out. Apparently some web site ran with what Terry said allegedly but did not include the words rumors. Come on folks shame on that website but we all know Terry is the truth and the ladies man some say freak in the closet. Well Terry we got your back. LAstly hell I ran a rumor that George Sedano ran on two folks busted on steroids a famous pitcher from Houston and a famous Redsox. What about Peter Vescey who throws whatever? Here is what I know when Terrys says it is fact then I believe him. Let's look at the Larry Deal. Terry was dead on.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said:

Terry's journalistic integrity was called into play because he reported a rumor of the whole Rasheed deal
Terry is a reporter. That's not a switch that can go on and off so easily. Did he "report" the deal, "write about" the deal or "post" about the deal? Because of Terry's background and occupation, he's going to be held to a higher standard of truth if it's related to sports, regardless of the media output. Is this right? Not necessarily, but it does come with the territory.

I don't want to hear about rumors unless they are from a trusted source - not some anonymous guy who's trying to start something b/c he has way too much time on his hands.

"Just for the sake of discussion"? Well, you can talk about anything just for the sake of discussion. Please only report rumors if they are from a good source, otherwise it wastes time.

Usually if a rumor comes from a good source, it ends up being true. Those are the ones worth spending time on.

I think people are getting their panties in a bunch for no **** reason whatsoever. T heard a little rumour, wrote about it in his personal blog, found out it wasn't true, and posted about that.

In my personal opinion, he was being responsible by following up the story and posting about that. But do most people see it that way?? No!

They just want to ***** and moan about something because they have nothing better to do with their time.
Here is my mistake. Once I found out that the rumor was not true I should have said nothing. Then the same boneheads whose panties are up their butts would be screaming How Come the Pistons don't make that trade?
    Is Joe Dumars an Idiot?

I think they're moaning because they DO have better things to do with their time than to waste them on unsubstantiated rumors.

    Default Never post until checking

Folks, Terry's a journalist. Period. It's irresponsible for him to write anything on a blog that he hasn't checked. Coming back later to clear it up is good, but he could have made the call before he wrote it. The joy of blogging is that it allows you to give in to that impulse to write something as soon as you hear it; however, if your day job is to write newspaper articles that ARE checked before they're printed, you don't have the luxury to give in to that impulse. In today's society, the lines are blurry. Terry knows that and it's a chance he takes when he writes about a rumor on his blog before he makes the appropriate calls. IMO, he deserves criticism...flogging, no; criticism, yes.

It's not his problem if people let rumors ruin their day.

For some reason, Timex Social Club comes to mind right about now.

IT WAS A RUMOR HE HEARD FROM NBA SOURCES...he posted it on his blog as such...if you cant differentiate between a rumor on a blog/message board and an article in a newspaper, then thats your problem

I heard it wasn't an NBA source, it was a teenager on the internet.

I agree. Terry is a Journalist for a newspaper, not a blog. We can't suddenly hold all blogs up to the same standards as legitimate newspapers. If we tried, there would be like three bloggers left on the planet.
