If anyone were to do it, Pete would. Nash has been a how many time MVP? Nash's game is a smalltime Pistol Pete, he emulates Pete but he isn't nearly the shooter, passer or dribbler that Pete was. The guy was rocking a 40+ point average, you can't tell me he wouldn't be pulling double-teams which would help him up his assist average quite a bit (especially if you, say, put him in Kobe's boat a few years ago w/ Shaq). Perhaps we all think he was greater than he actually was because of his early demise, or perhaps he was the real father of modernbill basketball. You don't see anyone ballsy enough to even try some of his patented moves in todays game (on the run through the leg passes, that wrong-way wrist pass).

He was a 40pt scorer in college. Different animal altogether.

He'd come under the same fire as Steve Nash gets. He wouldn't be worth a damn on the defensive end (who would he guard?). He'd likely be at the top of the scoring leaders list every year, but no way he averages 15 assists a game like someone said above, I mean he never had a year that was at 7 apg.

I find it interesting that Mike has such a fascination with him considering how much he dislikes Steve Nash. To me they are similar in their disinterest in playing defense and their unique offensive abilities.

IMO - Maravich would have been hard pressed to be on a championship team if he was forced to be "the guy" on the team. Just like Nash.

He was always the man on his teams, his whole career. How would he not be able to win a championship being the man?
Why wouldnt he be able to guard anybody? Was he 5'7" and couldnt guard PG's? He could handle todays PG's.

He wasn't that quick and wasn't that strong and wasn't exactly defensive minded.

He was always the man on his teams - and what did he win? Guys with little interest in playing D and are as domineering on offense generally don't win 'ships as "the guy". And his attitude regarding defense is the major reason I wouldn't expect him to guard anyone. And secondly do you think he is fast enough to guard a 1 or strong enough to guard a 2? I don't think he could stick with most of the PGs in the league today.

Wow, what a lame ass response. The whole thing is hypothetical so no reason to act like a total b!tch about it.
