Per Gazoo's raving input- I decided to go with Panasonic and I am ordering through Amazon (only have 2 hours to get it delivered by Saturday). No tax, no shipping. Good deal all around.

2012 GT50... which unfortunately only comes in a 50 and 55" (I want 60"). The 60" has not released yet. They show a pic at the bottom comparing the black levels of the 2012 and 2011 models and it looks significant.

2011 GT30... this is the only one they have left in a 60". Gazoo and many others have the ST30- the model down from this and love it. It is the right size and only about $90 more.

Which would you guys go with... bigger and pretty highly rated TV, but last years model... or this years model with some picture improvements for $100 less and 5" smaller?
I would just wait for the 60" to be released and you and Gazoo.

Joe said he wanted the 60" but it hasn't been released yet. Odds are I'll probably end up with another 55" Vizio when I finally replace the TV in the basement.

All right, need some help folks.

Looking for another HDTV. This time a 40-inch should suffice (I had a 50-inch two years ago). Any deals, tips, suggestions? Will be in a well, naturally-lit room.

    Gazoo...

What settings did you use on your ST30?

I'm not liking the settings on mine so far. I've been scouring AVS forums and trying different things and I am admittedly becoming frustrated with how much work my tv is (granted it is a GT30). There are almost too many options now.

I have mine set on GAME...I also like vivid, but i've heard you want to keep the contrast under 100 for the first 100hrs or so...i've tried other settings, but i have my tv in a bright room...most of those settings are for a dark room and they don't work for me...that's why i use the game or vivid setting depending on what i'm watching...

make sure you turn the motion smoother off...i don't like that option..

I would look for a 42in led lcd television...if you are in a well lit room, the LCD will be a better screen for you. do you want internet apps? if you do, you could always buy a roku box to get netflix etc...

I did turn the smoother off... I
Definitely don't like the soap opera effect.

I found some "break in" slide shows to use. I've had it running all night. I will be curious if that helps.

AVS has become more and more difficult to locate settings. People think that since everyones viewing environment is different, they don't want to post settings.

And yes, the "smoother" or "motionflow" or whatever settings make the new TVs look like Soap Operas or over-focused bugs me too. I turned mine off on my Bravia as well.

Have Roku box. Is the 120Hz thing really a gimmick? I thought then 720 v. 1080 was a gimmick ...

    Anyone have the Internet TVs?
