HDTV discussion (deals/advice/questions...)

Bought the Samsung. Saw it in store today. So what if it's plasma; I'll board up the windows if need be. Similar to my last TV, which was awesome.

And all for $76 of my own money.

Go to Home depot, buy a curtain rod... Then go to Joann fabrics, buy some drapes.

For another $76... The window will never be an issue.

with a doorwall behind the TV, a plasma is going to be annoying...you're always going to see a reflection. I have a plasma in a bright room and I can see the reflection, but it's not terrible if you get black out curtains...

the LCD screen will perform much better for that type of room. The LED is probably an edge lit TV, so you may get a little of what's called "blooming" but i think you would like that TV better...if you can afford the 55in, buy it...

With the Plasma, should the TV be in front of the window or perpendicular?

the finish on the screen of the plasma is shiney so it will reflect pretty good... i would try to keep it perpendicular to the windows. less chance for glare... if you put it parallel to the windows get blackout curtains and you'll be fine

Plasma would be my recommendation since they are usually cheaper and go well in a basement...3D? internet connected?

No 3D, Internet connected would be cool, is that expensive?
