I let my wife do the decorating, and I don't really have much taste.
However, our plasma TV is on a 70 year old piece of furniture that she restored from her grandfathers house. It was lime green, it's now white and has a bunch of new hardware, but I have to give her credit -- it looks good.
Also, Lee... I made the plasma choice knowing the sunlight issue... it wasn't as bad as I thought. I did convince the wife to get new curtains (light blocking) so there is no issue now. She's also happy because she says the new curtains look better...
FWIW, I paid $550 for a 42in Samsung 720p plasma. A 1080p picture is nice, but overrated, IMO.

Without getting into all the technical explanations and putting it in layman terms, it doesnt have the picture quality that Sony/Samsung brands carry...Simply comparing the picture qualties of display models at Best Buy, ABC, etc. will prove this point...Additionally, the LCD pictures fades over time in cheap models like Vizzio...Comparing a Vizzio to a Sony/Samsung is like comparing a Bayliner to a ChrisCraft..

For the bedroom a smaller TV is ok. At the new house our bedroom is a lott bigger so the TV is farther away. So we have been talking about getting a bigger one which will the armoire will be out.
In a living room/den, I would go bigger than 37". Depending on the size of the room of course.
