Not very many, a buddy of mine drinks all that kind of beer, and i've tried it. Just not a fan, some are to thick for me, i just like the taste of my regular beer. I've tried a gang of different beer, and the best taste for me is Miller.
I don't knock people who drink the ale stuff, but it's just not for me. I'll keep on drinkin Miller Lite.

I hear ya, i'm just not into the other beers. Not sure what i've drank that was "thick", all i know is it was beer that wasn't like miller, bud, coors, or whatever. I've tried the pumpkin ale stuff, if that's ale. I use to live with 2 of my buddies an that always would drink that stuff an i never really had a taste for it all.

Here is one you would like...Sam Adams Light ( the best light beer ever )...
Some you should try : leinenkugel's sunset wheat....Great Lakes Holy Moses..(another wheat beer)..Sam Adams Boston Lager and Winter Lager ( you might have had these)...
Ill try to think of some "lighter" beers for you
"People who drink light "beer" don't like the taste of beer; they just like to pee a lot."
I don't think he's necessarily talking about "thick" beer... its just beer that doesn't have that American type Pilsner/Light taste.
Beer is an acquired taste, obviously... and if you took a Sierra Nevada to a college party, 90% of the kids there would think it tasted like ass. There is a progressive set of steps when you are maturing your palette.
People just look at Guinness and think its "THICK"... whereas Guinness is actually pleasantly lite and smooth.
These are good starting suggestions... you could also try a Blue Moon or a New Castle Brown Ale for something to ease you in.
It will come in time, don't worry.
