Allen is a suburb of Dallas. Imagine what $60 M would do for just about any local school district in Michigan. And they spend that on just a fb stadium that is probably better than half the MAC universities have?
New $60 Million Allen H.S. Football Field Complete (includes video)
The City of Allen is about to take high school athletics to a whole new level. The school district is about to open a new $60 million football stadium. The facility is being called one of the best in the country.
If high school football is a religion in Texas, then the new Allen Eagles stadium will soon be a shrine.
“This is probably the best high school stadium in the nation,” said Christian Herr, with PBK Architects.
Herr is one of the architects putting the finishing touches on the facility.
The new stadium is three times bigger than the old one and will seat 18,000 fans.
Things are even cushy for boosters and members of the media. The pressroom and private boxes alone offer views and luxuries that rival some college football stadiums.
for sale or lease
It's only "one of the best in the country"?
Let's Goooooooooooooooooooooooooo Mountaineers
Football in Texas is a religion.. this isn't surprising
luxury boxes for h.s. football? that's a bit much.
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.
They better have the best of everything in every facet of that school (books, PC, classrooms, teaching aids, etc). They better be graduating every kid adequately prepared for college. Otherwise something like this is misappropriated IMO.
Reading the comments section, the whole home side of the field is already sold out for the season. North end zone area is for students - high school has 5300 students. They have SRO tickets and lines for every game.
