No it is not about me, its about a friend who got carjacked at Southfield and Warren. Took her car, and her work stuff. It was like 2am, she had just gotten off work needed 10 bucks in gas to get home and a pack of smokes. The DETROIT police who are responsible there never showed. I told her to sue the police department for derilicition of duty. They can show up for a Reverend who pays no taxes but not her.

That sucks.... It's at a point where I am always aware of the amount of gas in my car. I never let it get below half. I have a wife and 2 small children, so I don't even take that chance. I live on the northwest side of Detroit, Sherwood forest area and its fairly safe but I go to Ferndale for gas. I understand that taking money away from local business only worsens the problem, but I am not willing to gamble with my family's life or my own.
Don't blame you. I have two cars so I am going to check a couple of things on my backup and let her use it for a few days.

Damn shame that you can't even go get gas in that place. Man, I want my old man to move out of there so badly.
Don't forget that they didn't put him in the back of a squad car after they should have run his information, since he was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear on a previous driving while license suspended offense. And he was at the time driving while his license was suspended. But I guess if you're a reverend in Detroit, the laws of the land apply not to you.
I got jacked in the car once...
Outside of getting gas near Wayne State when I down there, I can't remember the last time I pumped gas in the city. I felt pretty safe only because of wayne state police.
Sad to her your story but glad she's alright physically. I would get a lawyer as you suggested.
