• The site's Detroit staff, which has lost several members in recent weeks (see below), apparently will change its focus from content aimed at a Detroit audience to more of a bureau reporting for the out-state newspapers. I've been told this by people with knowledge of the situation but have not been able to get an official response. Two emails to Dan Gaydou, MLive Media Group's top executive, went unanswered.
• MLive.com has rolled out a new real-time commenting system: Link.
• MLive Detroit recently parted ways with Jeff Wattrick, best known for his snarky Dyspathy blog in Detroit and who now writes for Deadline Detroit (link).
• The Detroit unit also lost entertainment reporter Ashley Woods, who was hired as editor of Huffington Post Detroit, and education reporter Aaron Foley, who was hired as associate editor covering Chrysler for Southfield-based Ward's Automotive.
