If he's guilty throw the book at him, but the CNN/SI report I read I would call downright slanderous. There was about 2 sentences of information, and then paragraph after paragraph of inflammatory information..
Stuff like "some item or items were taken from the residence" followed by "items commonly taken are video cameras, computers, hard drives, etc..". Well, if you read it all as one sentence, its pretty easy to come to the conclusion that this is what they took from Anderson's house. Similarly, with a description of what they believe he COULD have done, while they actually have no information what so ever on what the suspicion was.
We can all agree the media slants things, but we seem to throw that out the window when it comes to salacious National Enquirer type stories.
And for the record, if they find anything, enjoy your time in the slammer *******.
Twist.
Chris "Birdman" Andersen Is The Victim Of An Extortion Attempt, His Lawyer Says
Yesterday's shocking news of a child porn investigation at the house of Nuggets center Chris "Birdman" Andersen has led to today's announcement by Andersen's lawyer that he may be an extortion victim.
The Denver Post reported today Andersen's legal team claims the NBA star was threatened after a female fan attempted, and failed, to seduce the basketball star.
Attorneys provided the paper with a statement, part of which reads:
A female fan in 2010 mailed Mr. Andersen multiple letters and included several photos in which she was scantily clad. Chris and this woman communicated with each other and in 2011, this woman, who represented herself as 21 years of age, flew to Colorado, showing her required identification. After leaving Colorado, she became upset at his lack of interest. In 2012, she threatened to retaliate if he did not provide financial remuneration. [...] The investigation is expected to take three weeks. We're confident it will show that Chris did not engage in any criminal conduct.
Head to the Post for more information, and we'll update things here as we know more.
these aren't the words of someone who was "Set up" or is completely innocent:
if he wasn't KOBE - I fully believe he'd be in jail...."First, I want to apologize directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologize to her for my behavior that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. Although this year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colo.
"I also want to make it clear that I do not question the motives of this young woman. No money has been paid to this woman. She has agreed that this statement will not be used against me in the civil case. Although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter.
