    I don't think there's a style issue, it's just execution IMO.

I dont mind the hank deal. at least you know he's not going to dog it out there like franzen. z was our best player this series IMO, unfortunately the rest of the team failed to show up.

he was the best of a ****ty bunch it seemed... Nothing to write home about though

I guess maybe it's more a a perception thing to me, he was considered elite, but it seems as though his production is more in line with a good player- but not nearly elite.

So I know a plenty of people want Hudler back.

I'm in the "wait and see camp" - try to do better, but if you can't improve from other UFA's or trades, then I guess you gotta bring him back.

Question it, how much does he deserve?

I wouldn't give him a dime over 3million, but that's probably being a bit unrealistic.

A fair expectation is that it would cost 4-4.5M probably

I wouldn't do it at all at that price, fwiw.

oh and looking at things, Flip might be the ideal trade bait for the Wings...

    Upward progression, Reasonably cheap...

    good "Sell high" candidate IMO

meh, he was much better than that IMO.

never said he was elite, but he's still a very good player. I think you mentioned he made 7.5 million this year? thats his salary, not his cap hit. only thing that matters to me is his cap hit.

Be nice if they didn't have to pay Bert for 2 more years.

I don't think I'd call him "Very Good" anymore..

I think people have to seriously look at the numbers and realize that maybe 2008 was just a fluke for Hank, just happened to be a contract year for him... He hasn't been anywhere close to those numbers since then.

and while it's not the end-all be-all, isn't it pretty interesting Hank's only been an all-star twice in his career?

I think he's an elite playoff performer, he has the most playoff goals in the NHL since he came to the league. I watched him work his butt off tonight and try to win a game on his own, not many other Wings do that.

he moved back to center after 08..he was playing on pav's wing before that IIRC. regardless, he's not as dynamic as he was back then obviously but that's a large part of his statistical decline probably. and even at that......a 70-80 point two way center is a very good player IMO. dont forget, he had 80 points as early ago as last year.
