Watch Where You are Walking While Texting

A man in California went to send a text message, and ended up face to face with a brown bear — and it was all captured on video.

Vaz Terdandenyan told KTLA-TV that he was walking through his driveway in La Crescenta, Calif., on Tuesday when he spotted the 400-pound animal and quickly ran.

"I got up this morning from helicopter noise and I was trying to see what was going on," Terdandenyan told the TV station. "I was texting my boss that I would be late for work because something is going on, and I'm coming down the stairs and I see the bear coming up the stairs toward me."

Luckily, the bear did not display any signs of aggression toward Terdandenyan. The close encounter was captured by a KTLA helicopter.

The bear had been previously spotted wandering around the neighborhood.

“I turned back and I ran for my life,” Terandenyan told the station. “I guess running for a marathon came in handy because I was in shape to run away!”

The bear, meanwhile, lumbered into a neighboring yard and was nabbed by officials a short time later.

It reportedly took three tranquilizer darts before the bear fell asleep and was loaded into a “culvert trap,” Department of Fish and Game officials told KTLA.

He was later released deep in the Angeles National Forest, which borders La Crescenta in Los Angeles County.

I hate the texters on the sidewalks of Chicago or any big city.

Happens in Ann Arbor. Had a girl walk smack into the side of my truck at the intersection of Liberty and State St. I was waiting to make a right onto State St, and she was texting away, walked right off the sidewalk, and BAM, right into the passenger side of my truck. Stopped, looked around, and kept right on going.
