Props to Jalen for bringing this up on-air, lol. great stuff:
it all started about Bayless talking about Russell Westbrook:
http://twitter.com/#!/RealSkipBayles...23980850200576Pretty soon the Thunder must start Harden at PG, play Westbrook on wing, play Sefalosha less. Will slightly hurt D, make better overall.
http://twitter.com/#!/RealSkipBayles...23496353574913For the record: I love the OKC Thunder. My hometown team. KD my favorite player. RWestbrook sensational talent. But doomed if he plays PG.
Fine, whatever, he has his opinion, but then he tries to validate his take with his basketball expertise gained from being a HS Basketball (and baseball) star:
http://twitter.com/#!/RealSkipBayles...25630272847872FYI: I started for high school team that lost in state finals. Coach didn't like me b/c I shot too much and he wanted me to be more PG.
http://twitter.com/#!/RealSkipBayles...26505288536064Tall for age in 9th grade, chosen MVP of state-wide basketball camp over several future D1 players. Decided I was Maravich. Coach disagreed.
http://twitter.com/#!/RealSkipBayles...27041144438784I made all-region sr. year in baseball. Vandy asked me to play (on teams that won SEC all 4 of my yrs). Wisely decided to lock in on school
uhh, about that:
(they go into a lot of detail, but in conclusion)Over the weekend, we acquired through the Ogle Mole network some scans from the 1969 and 1970 Northwest Classen High School Yearbooks. Not coincidentally, that was Skipís junior and senior year at the once suburban high school. The yearbooks contain team photos, season recaps and even individual player stats for the basketball team. Basically, they let you know if Skipís claims of high school basketball glory were true and accurate, or if they were just wild lies pulled from the ass of the elder douche bag of annoying sports commentators.
Yep, Skip Bayless scored a grand total of 21 points in 15 games as the ďstartingĒ point guard for the 1970 state runner-up. That averages out to 1.4 points per game. Considering his coach didnít like him because he ďshot too much,Ē you have to wonder how low his field goal shooting percentage was. And thank God we donít have Skipís stats for assists, rebounds or turnovers. It would be sad to see John Hollingerís brain explode while trying to figure out Skipís PER.
some other reports on this:
SBB found something else, from the state finals:
http://sportsbybrooks.com/boxscores-...-twitter-30011SbB obtained an image scan of the original account of the Northwest-Norman game printed in the DAILY OKLAHOMAN on March 15, 1970.
Included in that account, written by Daily Oklahoman reporter Lynn Garnand, was a box score. ESPN on-air talent Bayless, who 10 days ago claimed to hundreds of thousands of Twitter followers that he ďstartedĒ for Northwest that season was not mentioned in Garnandís game story while the stat line of Bayless in the Daily Oklahomanís box score can be seen as zeroes across the board.
I realize I'm putting this here for you to read... but please, don't talk about it.
oh and should be noted, when Jalen calls Skip out, and Skip says "We'll addrees that later"
of course it was NOT addressed later.
I can't stand Skip, loved seeing this
Let's Goooooooooooooooooooooooooo Mountaineers
Why in God's name, especially in this day and age of fact-availability at lightning fast, search engine speed, lie about things?
MotorCityJoe- Since 2007: You talking to me?
Why was he asking Jalen what he was? Was he trying to say Jalen wasn't anything back in the day either? What a jackass and love that he got called out on another one of his DB moves.
