I think some of his players underachieve because his system is rigid and if they can't mesh into it, they aren't going to look good.

You said they "always underachieve," which you have yet to back up...

You can't think Payne is living up to a top 20 recruit status.

so izzo and draymond say the team looked flat even before the game and they had a feeling this was going to happen.

    umm, leadership fail?

and why the **** did izzo fly the team out there so early?

Was Payne's lung issue known when he was a 5 star?

Trice, their backup PG this year might slide into the starting role next year. That would bump Appling back to SG. It all depends on how Izzo wants to play it.
    PG Trice, Valentine
    SG Appling, Harris, Kearney,
    SF Dawson, Byrd
    PF Costello, Gauna, Kaminski
    C Payne, Nix

Appling could play point & Dawson might play some PF.

Can't say they got good looks all night. They did miss some good looks but Louisville shut them down and Izzo's bias against shots early in the shot clock helped because it allowed Louisville to be exgtremely comfortable and set on EVERY possession. The best way to deal with pressure is to attack it, get layups and open high percentage shots and score a team out of pressure. But Pitino knew they didn't have to worry about us attacking to score early.

We all know Izz is special but he is part of the team and when a team is shut down ALL GAME a coach has to share in that. I wouldn't call it being out coached but Pitino by far had the better night.

Your comment is easily the thing I hate most about State hoops, the players lose all of the games and never win any. Izz tongue lashes them into winning games but never has any impact on losses. That's not fair Tommy.

Would love to see that lineup. I think Kearney would get more PT at the 3 than Byrd though. Hopefully with a healthy offseason, Byrd can become the player he is supposed to be.
