baseball A-Rod is scum: disputing $17K shopping spree because his neice changed her mind

Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez is crying foul over a $17,600 charge on his AmEx Black Card after he took his 20-year-old niece, Michelle Silva, on a shopping spree with his girlfriend, Torrie Wilson.

Rodriguez is disputing the five-figure sum he spent at the Blue & Cream boutique on the Bowery after he was told he couldn’t return the expensive wares he bought for his niece.

The generous Yankee slugger took the ladies to Blue & Cream on Feb. 15 for a lavish day of shopping.

Store managers tell us Rodriguez is a regular at the boutique, and has previously dropped thousands of dollars on clothes for Silva and ex-girlfriends Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz.

Silva picked out a $1,250 pair of shoes by Chrissie Morris, dresses by Hervé Léger and other goods. “Torrie was being price-conscious, but the niece was throwing in more and more clothes,” said a store rep. Rodriguez “joked around with the saleswomen while the girls shopped,” the rep added.

His group walked out the door with $17,604 worth of goods, all paid for by Rodriguez on his black American Express card.

But when Silva got home, we’re told her mom became concerned that her wealthy brother had spoiled her daughter with expensive goods, and told Silva to return the clothes.

Rodriguez’s people then called the store repeatedly asking to return the clothes, but were informed Blue & Cream doesn’t issue refunds, only store credit, a rep for the boutique told us.

Silva sent an e-mail to store management, saying she couldn’t keep the pricey duds, and warned that her uncle will have to take “further measures” if a refund wasn’t issued.

This weekend, Blue & Cream was notified that Rodriguez is disputing the charges. “It’s ridiculous. Completely ridiculous,” said a store rep. “We have security tapes and coverage of him at the checkout counter. We’re completely not in the wrong.” A rep for Rodriguez declined to comment.

just take the merch credit and shut up

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

I wouldn't except clothing returns from a guy with the herp.
If you're havin' code problems I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but a glitch ain't one
FALSE, all of my problems are "gltiches."

Seems to me if he is a regular there that has spent thousands before and would probably again several times then you'd return the clothes. But basically now you have lost a very rich client who seems to enjoy letting the women in his life spend his money in your store.... Doesn't seem too smart on the store's part

If he's there all the time, what's wrong with taking a credit?

Maybe he didn't know the next time he was going to go there again? Can almost bet he never steps foot in there again now though

    exactly.

and disputing the charges with seems like a really weak thing to do... its not like it the store cheated them out of anything, the items were defective, anything like that.

I do agree with GF though, you'd think they would make an exception for a guy who's probably dropped ten of thousands of $$ over the years there. If they lose his business for good it's probably a huge mistake.

What kind of clothing store doesn't take back clothes for money anyway? That seems like a rediculous policy.

If they called back right away it's not like the clothes were worn and somehow damaged either. Yeah I don't understand him disputing the charges with the CC company but the whole thing should have been handled differently from the start

And it's not like they were going to give him $17000 cash.... It was charged, all they had to do was undo the charge.

A store like that probably has plenty of clients willing to spend, not like this is some normal retail shop.
