They list him as white, while only making a notation that he is also Hispanic at the very end of the article.

Does Zimmerman being Hispanic somehow lessen the fact that Zimmerman stereotyped a young black male as someone just "hanging around and on something"?

I just read it as trying to turn it into a racial white on black crime when every other report I've heard on it has referred to him as being Hispanic. ThinkProgress is the first place I have heard him referred to as white.
Taking that into account, can't you see why I meant come to the conclusion that there just might be a bit of race baiting in there?

Look, I am all for this being investigated FULLY and fairly by an outside agency.
Find out the truth, arrest and charge those who deserve it.

What I don't want to see is it become fully racially charged against folks who had nothing to do with it.

I've read reports on the net about some militant groups deciding they will exact revenge in this case since the law won't.

Either way, it's going to inflame the black community. The fact is, regardless of the racial background of the shooter, the young man was targeted because of his skin color. And the police appear to have helped the shooter out of a tight spot either because the shooter was not black or because the victim was black. It is little solace to the black community that the shooter was white or Hispanic; it appears from what we know that this kid was largely targeted because of his race, and no other significant reason. That ought to give everyone reason to be inflamed. This is 2012. We should not tolerate as a society vigilantes targeting people because of their skin color.

I think everyone here is familiar enough with my postings that I don't see racism at every turn. But when it is present, as I believe it is here (based on what I have read), it needs to be thoroughly investigated and exposed.

I've just gotten to the point I want the authorities to have the time to do what should be done.
Whether that is the local authorities, or federal. I want it to be done right. I don't mind the protests and such. I do mind when I read about a militant group coming in and exacting revenge. That scares me. Once you start down that road, it's very easy for things to way, way wrong.
Can't get to the guy in question, maybe they go after anyone who is working on the neighborhood watch for that neighborhood.

And this guy wasn't part of his neighborhood watch from what they said. See, those kinds of folks.....

Everyone should be pissed when something like this happens...the only thing i never understand is why the outrage seems to be non existent for a crime like this:

A 13-year-old boy who police say was doused with gasoline and lit on fire last week while walking home from school is recovering from first-degree burns to his face and head.

The boy was just two blocks from his home in Kansas City Tuesday when two teenagers began to follow him and then attacked him, his mother, Melissa Coon, said.

Police have described the suspects as black 16-year-olds, while the victim is white.

"They rushed him on the porch as he tried to get the door open," Coon told KMBC. "(One of them) poured the gasoline, then flicked the Bic, and said, 'This is what you deserve. You get what you deserve, white boy.'"

I mean non existent via the media / white people / black people / EVERYBODY...this is a hate crime too, but Rev Al never jumps on these...if he did, he'd be more credible...
