I still think this is one of the worst naming ideas in the history of sports, but the surveys the Big10 did over the course of the season show a majority of people liked them.

I think time frame makes all the difference.

Poll people on a bad idea before it's implemented and quite a few will say it stinks. Poll them again after said bad idea is implemented and the percentages shifts a bit toward the positive side. There will always be a set of people who have an easier time voting a concept down rather than something already in place.

i would guess this is a good example of not-giving-a-feck counting as "acceptance".
