A Robdiddy Production
Previously I spoke about how the Pistons had finally begun to flow together. Well last night against the Denver Nuggets, they did something special. They put the emotions behind them; they stepped up against a hot Western Conference Opponent and won. The Pistons trailed by ten at one point late in the game and got momentum flowing for them. Antonio McDyess and Tayshaun Prince put their relationship with Chauncey Billups behind them and did the crucial small things necessary to win.
Chauncey Billups has made the Nuggets look fantastic, while Iverson and the Pistons struggled. But on this night, it was Iverson’s intensity and the men who were drafted last year who stepped up. Aaron Affliao was a late first round pick. Rodney Stuckey waited for a year to take over for Chauncey and now he proved himself worthy. These two men were not suppose to be able to deliver like this, the man who founded this website claimed Joe Dumars could not draft. Affliao is not supposed to be putting up 15 points and hitting crucial free throws down the stretch. But both men executed and made the Pistons win. The purpose of this blog is to address how the Pistons are supposedly not an elite team anymore. Boston has lost 7 of 9 games since winning 22 in a row. The Celtics were supposed to be the next 95-96 Bulls, and now? They will probably be a 55 win team, just like the Pistons who are supposedly trash according to the experts? Since 2004, no one and I mean no one except Detroiters, have given the Pistons credit. The team that thrives on adversity just like the city it represents. Chauncey Billups was our star; Ben Wallace was our star, now we have a man who is a former MVP, a man who has played in the finals. He now is scoring the lowest of his entire career, but he is without a doubt a part of this team. Allen Iverson maybe the most recognizable name on the roster, many people don’t remember when Rasheed Wallace was a dominate force. Many people think you need a Lebron James and a bunch of rebounders to win. Some believe that you need three bonified superstars to carry your team, but for nearly 6 years the Pistons have done it with 5 people who can start on any team in this league. Without a Shadow of a doubt, the Pistons have always been looked down upon. No expert expected the 2004 title based on inspired play from a bunch of Rejects from other teams. And without each other, they are nothing. Ben Wallace has not achieved anything since leaving; Chauncey’s Nuggets don’t have the experience to win a championship. The Pistons step up when it’s rough and take charge. We again are reminded of the so called expert’s hatred for them, we are again reminded that some people will jump on any bandwagon shown. How many new Celtics fans have you met? How many Lebron James jerseys have you seen lately? Do we really need Lebron in 2010? No we just need to find pieces that do the same unselfish work as our current players as they age. The Pistons will be on top of the East by the end of the year, first or second seed and again win the Central. Cleveland can not hold it together; Lebron can’t be the cat’s pajamas for 82 games and the playoffs. The big three in Boston is starting to unravel maybe, they lost their hunger after one title. Maybe it’s just the fact, that aside from Garnet, the other two are over rated. |
