PISTONS: Hunter in mortage fraud case

The FBI and Wayne County are investigating a mortgage fraud case that involves Lindsey Hunter, according to Crain's Detroit Business.

Crain's reported Sunday that Hunter, a longtime guard for the Pistons who may or may not return for his 16th NBA season, was considered a victim by Wayne County investigators with someone else serving as a "mastermind" of a possible fraud. But Crain's, citing unnamed sources close to an investigation, reported that the FBI considered Hunter its main focus and a leading participant in at least two possibly fraudulent deals.

An attorney for Hunter, Deano Ware, issued a statement to Crain's that included this:

"Mr. Hunter is presently exploring any and all legal options available to him to defend his name and reputation against the allegations made against him including filing charges with the Wayne County Sheriff's Department."
