The Tampa Bay Buccaneers already have conceded that they won't be selling all non-premium tickets to their Week One home game against the Browns, via local media reports. Sean Leahy of USA Today flags other franchises that could eventually be in the same boat during the 2010 season.

Leahy points to the Jaguars, Lions, Chiefs, Raiders, Rams, Cardinals, Bengals, and Chargers as teams that could struggle to sell out their venues -- and thus to avoid a local blackout of their home games. On-field failures possibly could result in late-season blackouts in other cities, too, such as Buffalo, Carolina, Seattle, and Minnesota.

During the offseason, Neil Best of Newsday explained that teams may avoid a blackout by paying 34 cents on the dollar for each unsold non-premium seat. That money goes into the league-wide visiting-team pool, which is split by all 32 teams. The NFL doesn't trumpet the availability of this device, since it could result in local pressure from fans and the media to pay the money needed to ensure that the games will be televised.

Then again, maybe some of the teams that can't sell out their stadiums would be wise not to advertise the sub-par quality of the home team by putting it on local television for three-plus hours.

The Bucs used that device in 2009. They won't do it in 2010.

For Week One, Tampa looks to be the only place where a sellout definitely won't happen. With Tim Tebow's Broncos visiting Jacksonville and Sam Bradford getting the start in St. Louis, the Jags and the Rams likely will get their tickets sold.

The Heisman Trophy Trust is expected to strip former USC running back Reggie Bush of his 2005 Heisman Trophy and leave the award vacant, Yahoo Sports reported.

Two sources close to the trust said the organization is completing its investigation and will agree with the NCAA's finding that Bush accepted improper benefits while at USC and was ineligible during the 2005 season, according to the report. The NCAA cited USC for "lack of institutional control" and handed the Trojans four years' probation, a two-year bowl ban and a reduction in athletic scholarships for the football program.

Bush would become the first player in the 75-year history of the Heisman Trophy to have the award taken away.

In July, USC president C.L. Max Nikias ordered the school's athletic department to return its copy of Bush's 2005 Heisman to the Heisman Trophy Trust.

Bush met with Heisman representatives last month at the New York law offices of Emmet, Marvin & Martin, the sources said, according to the report.

The sources declined to discuss the details of that meeting, according to the report.
1. Jrue Holiday(notes), PG, 76ers. He is long and talented and has really only scratched his potential. But the more he played last season, the better he got. The question has always been: How well can he run a team? And if you are going to have him as your one, you want to have a two who can be a playmaker, too. That's what they have with Evan Turner(notes).

2. Darren Collison(notes), PG, Pacers. When you look at the numbers he put up as a starter when Chris Paul(notes) was hurt, obviously, if he gets big minutes he is going to produce. The one thing that worries me, though, is whether he'll fit Jim O'Brien's system. It's not a traditional offense where the point guard simply creates and racks up assists. That's what he did in New Orleans, and O'Brien will have to adjust a bit.

3. Kevin Love(notes), PF, Timberwolves. He has gotten better as a rebounder, and he is one of the more versatile power forwards out there. He can shoot it from medium and long range, and he is a tough matchup. He has to get better defensively—if he had been healthy all of last year, he would have made some natural improvements.

4. D.J. Augustin(notes), PG, Bobcats. Someone has to be the point guard. He took some steps backward last year, but that was because Larry Brown really wanted to make Ray Felton into a pretty good point guard. And he did. Now, with Felton gone, he can do the same with Augustin. He can shoot the 3, but he has to do better at playing within Larry's system and not trying to do too much on his own.

5. J.J. Hickson(notes), PF, Cavaliers. There is a reason everybody wanted this guy at the trading deadline, but the Cavs will be happy they kept him. He is a beast inside and a great athlete. He could eventually block 2.5 to three shots per game. He will be a good rebounder, and although he might not have the smoothest offensive game, he runs the floor very well—and they're going to be a good transition team.

— As told to Sean Deveney
