Warning…extreme opinion.
The Cleveland Cavaliers will not make the playoffs.
The team is an absolute disaster and even if I am standing alone with Charles Barkley(who shares my sentiment) I will do it. This team isn’t going anywhere…well except the NBA lottery.
As I watched the Cavs opener versus the Mavs I was horrified at what that team looked like without super scrubs Shasha Pavlovic and Andy Varajeo. Mind you neither guy is viewed as even a solid NBA player but without them it looked like the 1993 Bulls without Jordan and Pippen.
As every team in the East seemingly got better, the Cavs sat back and did NOTHING and it shows:
• Celtics—Added KG and Allen
• Magic---Added Rashard Lewis
• Bulls—Noah and maturation of young studs
• Knicks—Randolph
While the Wizards, Pistons, and Nets are all solid without any moves.
Having no picks in this years draft hurts. Having the bloated contracts of Eric snow, Larry Hughes and Big Z hurts even more.
Obviously Piston fans will wonder how a team that made the NBA Finals could miss the playoffs but I’m telling you right now…this team stinks. At one point last night they had a lineup featuring Boobie Gibson and several family members.
Make no mistake I give LeBron massive props for his playoff coming out party last season, this isn’t about the King or his skills. On the contrary, this is about everything else wrong with the dank roster Ferry and Co. have put around him.
Best part, if the Cavs cave to Sideshow Varajao’s demands you can add his name to the bloated contract All-Stars the Cavs are clearly collecting. Dude wants $9M per and cannot crack double digits.
Keep an eye on this team as the season progresses. If I’m wrong I will take the heat but looking at that roster and that game I swear they have collapse written all over them. The only thing that could save them if somehow getting a PG so Hughes can slide to his natural off guard spot. Right now Hughes is struck doing something he cannot do…besides shoot from outside 15-feet and that is run a team.
