If a report on suntimes.com is true, I may start calling Kobe Bryant "Jennifer Jason Bryant."
The report, by Michael Sneed, said Bryant may purchase the G.O.A.T.'s home in Highland Park, Ill.
This is passed Idolizing someone. It's borderline obsessive. Everyone
knows Bryant wants to be Jordan, from the way he talks during
interviews, down to his mannerisms on the court. But buying his house?
Is he gonna ask Vanessa to change her name to Juanita? Is Kobe gonna
start wearing Lower Merion practice shorts under his Lakers gear?
Bryant is easily the best all-around basketball talent in the world. He
needs to work on being an individual next, because this is ridiculous.
But there's an underlying issue here, too.

I woke up today with a little more jump in my step. I was seen smiling by my wife and she hasn’t seen that since the Tigers made it to the World Series.
After I showered and got ready to work I decided not to drive the Ford focus to work. “No, today I am hitching a ride on the Lion’s bandwagon.”

With October in the books and summer behind us things are just warming
up in the sports world. The NHL is one month in, The NBA just kicked
off week 1, The game everybody wished was the Super Bowl happens this
Sunday between the similarly undefeated Pats and the Colts and perhaps
more important around these parts its Rivalry Weekend UM v MSU (Go
Blue, Go Green, Muck Fichigan, Go suck dairy product from an utter etc
etc...)
It's a great time to be a sports fan in the Great Lakes Basin.

I listen to a lot of talk radio. I hear all these “football experts” talk about the decline of the quarterback. “Vinny T is starting because there are no good quarterbacks left!”
WHHHAAATTTTTTTT? How can a league with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have a quarterback problem?

A referee compromised the ethics of the game. A head coach/front office
guy let his inner Bishop Don "Magic" Juan out in the workplace. Several
stars, and one superstar, bitched and moaned about their situations
with the hopes, I think, of being traded. One superstar finally was
traded, albeit two years too late. And the league changed its motto to
something called, "Where Amazing Happens."
I haven't been so perplexed by the best game in the world since I found out John Tesh wrote that sweet "NBA on NBC" intro.
But have you noticed what's been happening the last couple weeks? The focus is being put back on the game.
It's looking more and more like Tim Donaghy's "Sopranos-esque" story is
an isolated incident, even though it’s been revealed that a large
number of NBA refs participate in casino gambling. Isiah Thomas has put
Fillmore Slim back in his cage. Andrei Kirilenko and Shawn Marion, it
seems, have backed off their trade demands, and Kevin Garnett looks
re-energized in Beantown.
