As is the case with most of their football games during the season, Draft Day is a no win situation for the Detroit Lions. There are several well-established, talented players in this year's draft class, but there's one glowing issue. The Lions' personnel moves are coordinated by an incompetent fool.

Origin of the fist pump? As the Jack Johnson song goes, ‘I’ve been sitting, waiting, wishing…’ And so has the entire sports world when you think about it. 2007 isn’t off to a great start right now; so far it’s been pretty ho-hum.
The first sporting event of every year is the college football National Championship game. It sucked. OSU got blown to bits. Next is the Super Bowl. I’m still waiting for Rex Grossman to complete a pass. Beside the kick return by Devin Hester to start the game, there was never a real scare as the Colts won easy. College basketball’s National Championship was mildly entertaining because Greg Oden was masterful and the Florida team is so great, but the game wasn’t close. Tiger Woods blew a lead on the last day of the Masters. If Tiger isn’t absolutely on his game, then it is hard for me and the rest of the people who don’t watch/follow golf on a regular basis to get into it.

These five things I know are true...
5. Relax on the Tigers - Alot of people are over reacting to the Tigers recent struggles. Relax! No one wins the pennant in April! The main thing you have to look at is the pitchers; Bonderman has been very good along with Robertson and Verlander. Unfortunately the bats haven't come alive but they will. When you invest in a bunch of 30 plus year olds who have hall of fame credentials, you can gurantee that if they bat .200 one month, they will bat .400 the next.
4. Brady Quinn will be a good pro - People need to stop comparing Brady Quinn to busts like Joey Harrington and Rick Mirer. Quinn will be a solid starter in the pros. Quinn was a four-year starter who passed for 11,762 yards and led his team to a 29-18 record, including 19-6 over his final two seasons.

Dear Mr. Millen,
With the NFL draft just days away, and
the Lions sitting with the #2 overall pick, there are a couple of
things that I, as a tortured Lions fan, would like to address with you.
Firstly Matt, I feel that I can call you Matt because you have such a
friendly and outgoing personality, I cannot stress to you the
importance of not screwing this draft up. You're sitting in a very
nice position with a high draft pick, but you should already be
familiar with this since you have extensive experience with high draft
picks since you took over as GM for the Lions. And no Matt, that wasn't
a compliment

Sports can be a funny thing. Grown adults playing (and getting paid handsomely) children's games while being adored and criticized by other adults. Sports create rivalries with perfect strangers who have nothing in common other than their
allegiances to their teams. Sports also create camaraderie between strangers rooting for the same team. Sports can also heal those who have been hurt, those who have lived through tragedy.
