The Tigers recently called up their top position player prospect Cameron Maybin (you may have heard). Maybin is said to be a lot of things, we’ll cover his strengths and weaknesses in this Prospect Profile. Maybin projects as a 5-tool player and will be a mainstay in the Tigers outfield for years to come.
The ’07 version of Baseball Prospectus (aka the Baseball Bible) said Maybin has rare 30-30 potential and plays like Eric Davis. They were so high on Maybin that they projected him to be more effective than Craig Monroe this year (and they did that before the season).

All is not well with the Tigers with the injury to Gary Sheffield, who will miss the entire home stand. But, hope is far from being lost. I still believe that the Tigers can win the Central Division. I picked Cleveland before the year, so I'll stick with my pick.
Why can the Tigers win the division? Very simple: pitching.

My next blog will be the first blog where I don’t start off with, “Well, haven’t written a blog in a while.” Anyway, I’ve noticed how in the baseball off-season we all talk about trades and signings, now it’s time to look back. I’ll be doing that in a few blogs and I’ll call this series “GM Review.”
Okay, today we’ll do one signing (Barry Zito) and one trade (Randy Johnson).

The Celtics draft day deal for former Sonic Ray Allen put the team on the doorstep of the playoffs in the weak Eastern Conference.
The July 31 deal for Kevin Garnett, which netted the Minnesota Timberwolves five players and two draft picks, puts Boston firmly into the playoffs, but not as high as some people would like you to believe.

The last week or so, everyone has put their opinion on what to do with Mike Vick.Some claim he is misunderstood while others say he is to dogs what Kid Rock is to fashion, Scary. I am not a big bandwagon jumper. I don’t like to take the popular side just so a lot of people will stand up and agree with me.
I’ve been left to sit here and ponder both sides. Among many other things, I was going to ask: Didn't the Duke Lacrosse mess remind us that charges in a grand jury indictment aren't automatically true?
